A Superior Court judge has ruled Groupe Rémabec must temporarily cease operation in the territory of the Atikamekw of Opitciwan.
Groupe Rémabec was planning to cut down enough trees to yield 200,000 cubic metres of wood, which the Atikamekw community argues would threaten wildlife habitats and would limit residents’ ability to hunt for 40 to 50 years, at least.
